UPDATE: HCSO issues press release on fatal hit-and-run wreck in northeast Houston

An unknown male was in the outside lanes near 8600 C.E. Boulevard attempting to pick up his bicycle when he was struck by a vehicle or an unknown make and model just before 4 a.m. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene of the crash without stopping to help the victim. Authorities say the suspect sped off onto Green River Drive.
The individual hit by the vehicle died at the scene.
An investigation into the crash is still underway.
