Pedestrian struck and killed by hit-and-run driver on Bellfort Ave

HOUSTON, TX – Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run crash on Bellfort Avenue in southeast Houston that left a pedestrian dead on Friday night, according to KHOU.
The collision occurred at around 8:30 p.m. in the 6900 block of Bellfort Ave near Nunn Street, when a man reportedly ran across the street.
He was then hit by the driver of a Nissan Sentra who drove about a block away from the crash before fleeing the scene on foot.
The victim, who was described only as an adult man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
An occupant of the vehicle, described only as a woman, is then said to have driven the car away. The vehicle was later discovered abandoned in a residential area with visible blood as well as damage to the windshield.
Authorities are hoping to use camera footage as well as fingerprints and DNA evidence from the vehicle in their search for the suspects.
Their investigation continues at this time.
