Major crash on Eastex Fwy causes road closure, traffic delays

HOUSTON, TX – A collision in the Fifth Ward area this afternoon caused road closures and traffic delays, according to a tweet posted by the Houston Police Department.
Northeast Patrol Units have the 2800 block of the Eastex Freeway shutdown for a major accident. Expect delays find an alternate route. #hounews #houtraffic CCU13

The accident occurred in the 2800 block of the Eastex Freeway and was reported by HPD just before 4 p.m.
Officers closed the block of the highway for the cleanup and investigation of the accident and advised travelers to avoid the area, as traffic was delayed.
Authorities have not yet revealed the cause of the crash or if any injuries occurred as a result of the accident.
