Austin – Pedestrian Accident on Menchaca Rd Leaves 1 Dead

An auto versus pedestrian crash on Menchaca Road resulted in the death of one person, Saturday evening.

Just after 10:00 p.m., police received a call reporting a crash in the 10000 block of Menchaca Rd near Slaughter Lane.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear at this time but responding officers confirmed that a pedestrian was walking along the roadway when he was hit by a passing vehicle. The impact of the crash sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased by emergency crews who arrived at the scene. His identity has not yet been released at this time.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle involved was taken into custody. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
