Sheriff’s Office Sgt. killed in crash after providing funeral escort

PEARLAND, TX – An off-duty sergeant of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office was killed in a motorcycle accident after finishing a funeral escort in Pearland this afternoon.
According to CBS Dallas-Ft. Worth, the accident occurred at 2:11 p.m. as 51-year-old Sgt. Bruce Watson was on his way home after escorting a funeral procession.
Watson, operating a motorcycle, was struck by another driver, and died of injuries he sustained during the crash.
Authorities do not believe that the driver was under the influence when the crash occurred.
Watson was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had served with the HCSO for 20 years.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.
