1 person dead after wrong-way driver crashes into 3 vehicles on Hwy 249

HOUSTON, TX – A wrong-way driver on Highway 249 crashed into three other vehicles, leading to the death of at least one person late Saturday night, according to KTRK.

The collision happened in the southbound lanes of the highway near Seaton Lake Drive just before 10 p.m., as the driver of a Dodge Journey was traveling northbound, against the direction of traffic.

He then crashed into the front of a southbound Toyota Matrix, then continued into a Toyota Tundra, and then into a Honda Accord.

The driver of the Matrix died as a result of the crash. Their identity was not immediately released.

Authorities continue to investigate the accident. At this time, they have not yet determined if the at-fault driver was under the influence.
