HOUSTON, TX – A young man died in a major collision on Highway 290 on the morning of Monday, December 28, according to the team at KHOU 11.
Authorities say a silver Toyota Scion was traveling westbound when the driver, for unknown reasons, veered out of their lane, hitting a nearby Chevrolet Malibu. After the initial crash, the Toyota hit a Chrysler 300 and a nearby concrete barrier.
The driver of the Toyota was thrown out of their vehicle and onto the roadway. The 23-year-old victim was then hit by a Harris County Precinct 4 constable deputy. He was declared dead at the scene — no other injuries were reported.
An uninvolved driver was reportedly arrested after stopping in a moving lane before the incident. He was determined to be driving while intoxicated.
