Young child drowns in pool at Margaritaville Lake Resort in Conroe

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — A six-year-old Louisiana girl died Friday afternoon after a drowning incident at Margarita Lake Resort in Conroe, reports KHOU11.
Conroe Police said officers responded to the scene at 600 Margaritaville shortly after 3:30 p.m.
An investigation shows the girl, who was on vacation with her family, was initially wearing floaties in the resort’s pool but had removed them at some point. She was later found unresponsive in the water.
The victim’s family members and other witnesses at the scene applied immediate life-saving measures before first responders arrived. She was transported to Texas Children’s Hospital in The Woodlands, where she later died.
Authorities said a life guard was on duty at the time of the incident, but it is unclear whether or not they were questioned by police.
An investigation was in progress.
