WALLER COUNTY, TX — One person was hospitalized early Wednesday after crashing their pickup truck into an 18-wheeler on Interstate 10 near Brookshire, reports ABC 13.
The Department of Public Safety (DPS) said the accident happened near Peach Ridge Road at around 1:30 a.m.
A preliminary investigation shows a pickup truck was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes when it collided with the big rig, causing the commercial truck to catch fire.
The driver of the pickup was transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.
It was not immediately clear whether the driver of the 18-wheeler was hurt.
The event caused a heavy traffic backup on I-10, but nearly 12 hours later, the surrounding roads were reopened.
