GALVESTON COUNTY, TX — A contract worker was hospitalized Monday afternoon after suffering a 30-50 feet fall from a rollercoaster at Kemah Boardwalk, reports Click2Houston.
Crews with Kemah Volunteer Fire Department and the Seabrook Fire Department responded to the scene on Kipp Avenue shortly after 1:00 p.m.
Authorities said the victim, a man believed to be in his late 50s, was doing maintenance work on the Bullet Rollercoaster at the time, and was halfway up the coaster’s tracks when he fell about 35 to 50 feet onto the platform below.
The victim was rushed to a trauma center at HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake with multiple injuries. No updates on his condition have been released, but he was said to have been responsive and communicative during the rescue.
Authorities indicated the victim was wearing a safety harness before the fall, but it was unclear whether or not he had been secured to a safety line.
