Woman killed, driver charged after DUI crash on I-45 in North Houston

HOUSTON, TX – A 20-year-old driver is facing charges after a suspected DUI crash took the life of a woman in North Houston on Wednesday night.
According to a report by Fox 26 Houston, the crash occurred along I-45, between Greens Road and Beltway 8, at about 11 p.m.
Police say the victim’s Toyota 4-Runner was stalled in the southbound lanes of the freeway. She had already gotten out of the SUV when a Chevrolet pickup careened into it, also striking her in the process.
The woman suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash.
Bystanders jumped into action, pulling the driver in the pickup to safety. He was subsequently transported to the hospital, where he failed multiple sobriety tests.
The at-fault driver has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.
