Woman found deceased after crash on I-45 SB in downtown Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A woman was found deceased early Thursday after a car crashed into a wall on the Interstate 45 Pierce Elevated in downtown Houston, reports ABC13 Houston.
Houston Police responded to the scene on the southbound lanes near Smith Street shortly after 2:00 a.m.
Investigators said the cause of the crash and the woman’s death was not immediately clear. A preliminary search of the vehicle did not yield evidence of bullets or gunshots fired in the area.
The southbound lanes on the 1200 block of the IH-45 Pierce Elevated were closed as emergency crews responded but have since reopened.
An investigation by the HPD and the medical examiner’s office remains underway.
