Woman dies after hitting crosswalk signal on Barker Cypress Road

HOUSTON, TX – A woman died after hitting a crosswalk signal on Barker Cypress Road on Saturday morning, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office reports.
The HCSO says Kylah Cherry was driving a black 2011 Hyundai Sonata near 6100 Barker Cypress Road around 12:20 a.m. She lost control of the vehicle, crossed over the median, and struck a crosswalk signal at the intersection of Barker Cypress Road and Brenwood Drive.
Cherry was declared dead at the scene of the crash by emergency responders. A passenger in the vehicle, Dominique Steptoe, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
