Woman dead, man injured after car crashes into tree on Chimney Rock Rd

HOUSTON, TX – A driver was killed and her passenger was injured after their vehicle collided with a tree on Chimney Rock Road earlier today, according to details from KHOU.

The collision happened at about 3 a.m. in the 1500 block of Chimney Rock Rd, when a black Jeep hit a curb and went off the side of the road.

The Jeep then went into a nearby yard and hit a tree, then caught fire.

Nearby witnesses broke open the back window to attempt to pull out the two occupants of the vehicle. A male passenger was able to escape with the help of the good Samaritans. He was taken to the hospital to receive treatment and is in stable condition.

The driver, identified only as a woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
