Woman dead after being hit by car while feeding stray dogs

HOUSTON, TX – A woman died yesterday after being hit by an intoxicated driver in northeast Houston while she was feeding stray dogs, reports KPRC2.
The accident happened in the 8200 block of John Ralston Road at about 6 p.m.
A driver reportedly high on illicit drugs was traveling over 100 miles per hour when he lost control of his vehicle. He collided with a woman on a bicycle, carrying the victim a distance of at least a few hundred feet, before he collided with a tree. The victim was thrown some distance from the vehicle in the final collision.
According to the report, the victim came to the site of the crash every day so that she could feed stray dogs in the area.
An empty bag of dog food and a dog leash were found at the scene.
The suspect was rescued by witnesses and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. He has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.
The identities of the suspect and the victim have not yet been released.
Authorities continue to investigate the accident.
