Wise County-Victim of FM 730 Collision Last Month Dies

The victim who sustained serious injuries has succumbed to her injuries weeks after the collision on Farm to Market 730 Road, police reports.
Authorities have identified the fatality as Winogene “Winnie” Mayfield. She was an 81-year-old resident of Boyd. According to authorities, she was listed in critical condition at John Peter Smith Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The fatal accident took place last January 18 on FM 730 between Boyd and Decatur. Local investigators said that Mayfield was driving a Chevrolet passenger car along the northbound lanes of the highway when a 2009 Lexus passenger car struck her vehicle. The Lexus initially veered off the roadway before hitting Mayfield’s vehicle.
Following the collision, Mayfield was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Lexus, identified as Lacretia Lumas, 40, of Bridgeport, did not sustain injuries.
No additional details were released as of the moment.
