A crash in Montgomery County sent 6 people to the hospital on Thursday night, January 17, 2019.
According to the reports, 3 cars collided on Calvary Road, west of interstate 45 near Willis, after a Dodge Journey tried to pass a Land Cruiser only to end up slamming head-on into a Kia Rio. The crash was reported to be so intense that the Land Cruiser snapped a power pole. Fortunately, the 7,500 feet of high voltage power lines remained in the air and did not fall on the vehicles.
In particular, a mother and a baby had to be cut out of the Kia Rio, but thankfully, they were taken to the hospital in stable condition. All the remaining victims involved in the accident were brought to the hospital as well.
It is good news to hear that nobody died from this accident. Unfortunately, not everyone is as lucky. Car accidents are fairly common nowadays; in fact, according to the National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA), car accidents happen almost every minute of the day, and for every 16 minutes, a car accident occurs that results in death. That can be translated to roughly about 6 million car accidents every year and 90 people dying in car accidents every day in the U.S. alone.
A particular type of vehicular accident, the head-on collision, is probably the most dangerous type of crashes of them all, simply because of the increased force sustained by both drivers. Reports estimate that head-on collisions only comprise 2% of reported crashes, but they do account for well over 10% of driving fatalities. Spinal injuries, brain injuries, catastrophic injuries, broken bones, paralysis, and of course death are some of the common outcomes of a head-on collision. With this, the victims involved in this particular car accident are indeed lucky to be relatively all right despite the intensity of the collision.
If you are a victim of a car accident/head-on collision, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then please never hesitate to ask for help. The police will always be there for you, but more than that, car accident lawyers are willing to help you in protecting your rights and in getting you the justice that you deserve.
