Willacy County – Antonio Garcia Identified Victim of FM 2099 Collision

The driver who passed away in a tragic rollover collision on Farm to Market Road 2099 last Saturday.
According to law enforcement officials, the fatality was identified as 68-year-old Antonio Garcia. At around 7:00 p.m., Garcia was seen driving a car along FM 2099 when, for reasons that had not yet been determined, he lost control of the car upon approaching a curve. The vehicle then drifted off the road and rolled over a number of times. The force of the impact killed Garcia at the scene. His passenger, whose identity has not yet been released, sustained minor injuries from the collision. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Area investigators are determining the reason that caused Garcia to lose control of the car.
The crash remains under investigation.
