Wheeler County – Teen Killed in Reckless Driving Crash on US 83

At least one person was pronounced deceased following a fatal car accident on US 83 in Wheeler County.
According to the initial investigation, the incident took place on US 83 in an unspecified time last October 4th. Police said a 2005 Ford Taurus had been traveling along the highway when, for reasons that had not been determined yet, it ignored a stop signal and crashed into an undescribed vehicle. The impact of the crash seriously injured the driver of the Taurus.
He was immediately taken to an Amarillo hospital where he was listed in a stable condition. His passenger, identified only as a 17-year-old Oklohama resident, died from the injuries sustained from the collision. Their identities were withheld pending notification to their next of kin.
Area investigators were requested at the scene to determine the cause of the crash.
