Wharton County – Brian Sheppard Dies in Wrong-Way Collision on US 59 near CR 214

The Wharton County Police Department has released the name of one of the victims who died in a car accident on US 59, last March 27.
According to initial reports, the wreck happened at around 3:30 a.m., Monday. A 2005 Dodge pickup truck was heading south on US 59 near County Road 214 when it crashed head on with a 2007 Tahoe. Both drivers sustained serious injuries from the impact of the collision. They were pronounced dead at the scene by Cynthia Kubicek, Wharton County justice of the peace, according to the news release.
Authorities later identified the victims as Brian Sheppard, 47, of Wharton, and Nestor Soto, 36, of Pearland. Sheppard was driving the Dodge pickup truck while Soto was operating the Chevrolet Tahoe.
No words on what caused the accident. The investigation is still ongoing.
