West – Motorcyclist Killed in I-35 Collision

The West Police Department has named the motorcycle operator who died in a fatal accident on Interstate 35, south of West.
The fatality was identified as Cody Smith, 25. He is a resident of West, as per local reports.
According to initial reports, Cody Smith was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle along the southbound lane of I-35 when he lost control of his bike after an icy path. Smith drifted into the path of a Chevrolet pickup truck, prompting a collision. The force of the impact seriously injured Smith, killing him in the process. Fortunately, no occupants in the Chevrolet was hurt.
Authorities had to shut down the interstate to clear the crash site.
No charges have been made as the investigation is still in progress.
