Waco – Hit-and-run Driver of 26th Street Crash Still at Large

The Waco Police Department is still looking for the driver who struck and killed a pedestrian on North 26th Street last Tuesday.
At around 12:30 a.m., local officials arrived at the 700 block of North 26th Street in response to a call reporting a pedestrian lying on the ground. The victim, identified as 61-year-old Dwain Earl Lockhart, was immediately taken to a nearby hospital where he received medical treatment. Unfortunately, he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by a Justice of the Peace.
The driver of the vehicle that struck Lockhart was no longer at the scene when police arrived. His identification and whereabouts remain unknown at this time.
Anyonw who has information about the crash of the vehicle involved is encouraged to get in contact with Waco Police Department. The crash remains under investigation.
