Violent, car-splitting crash on Gulf Fwy kills one person, seriously injures another

HOUSTON, TX – A crash in southeast Houston reportedly caused by speeding and reckless driving led to the death of one person and the serious injury of another early this morning, according to KPRC2.
The accident happened in the 13800 block of Gulf Fwy at about 3:20 a.m. as the driver of a red sedan was speeding down the highway and reportedly weaving between lanes, before attempting to exit at Scarsdale Blvd. The driver then lost control of the car, and crashed into a tree, splitting the vehicle in two.
One person died at the scene as a result of the crash.
Another victim, a woman, was taken to a local hospital with severe injuries, though she is expected to survive at this time.
Authorities continue to investigate the collision.
