Victoria – Motorcyclist Killed in Houston Highway ID’d

A 40-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced deceased after colliding with a vehicle on Houston Highway, last Saturday morning.
The fatality was identified as 40-year-old John De La Garza.
At around 2:30 a.m., De La Garza was operating his motorcycle along the eastbound lane of Highway Highway when a truck suddenly appeared, resulting in a crash. According to police, the truck was pulling out of the parking lot of a business establishment and made a left turn to go west on the Highway when De La Garza struck it. Emergency crews immediately took the motorcyclist to Citizens Medical Center for medical treatment. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead shortly after.
The driver of the truck, identified as James Williams, 68, of Edna, was not injured. His passengers were unharmed as well.
An investigation is underway.
