Van Zandt County – Three-Car Collisionon SH 19 Leaves 2 Dead, 4 Injured

A fatal multi-car collision on State Highway 19 caused the death of two people and injuries to four people in Van Zandt County, Friday.
Based on an initial investigation, a Chevrolet pickup truck was heading south on SH 19 when, for yet unknown reasons, it drifted into the northbound lanes and crashed into a Mitsubishi Endeavor. The impact of the crash sent the Mitsubishi into the southbound lanes and crashed into a ditch. the pickup truck then crashed into a Chevrolet Equinox that was traveling behind the Mitsubishi, killing both the driver and passenger inside. They were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Two passengers were rushed to Cook’s Children Hospital in Dallas with unknown conditions. Meanwhile, both drivers of the pickup truck and Mitsubishi were transported to a nearby hosoital for medical treatment. The extent of their injuries was not released.
The crash remains under investigation.
