UPDATE: Woman fatally struck East Fwy access road in east Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A 56-year-old woman died Saturday morning when she was struck by a pickup truck along the East Freeway in Houston’s Greens Bayou area, reports Houston Police Department.

The crash happened in the 12300 block of the freeway service road shortly after 11:00 a.m.

According to HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division, the woman was trying to retrieve lost hand tools that had fallen onto the roadway when she was hit by a westbound Ford F-150 pickup truck.

Authorities said the 29-year-old male driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with responding officers. He was released after police determined he was not impaired.

No further information has been disclosed at this time.
