UPDATE: Victim in South Sam Houston Parkway pedestrian wreck identified

HOUSTON, TX – The victim in the South Sam Houston Parkway pedestrian wreck that occurred on Saturday has been identified, ABC 13 reports.
According to authorities, 19-year-old Destiny Rudd was walking in the center lane at 11600 South Sam Houston Parkway when she was hit by a passing vehicle. The driver had attempted to swerve out of the way to avoid hitting her but was unsuccessful. Rudd was killed upon impact.
The driver was determined not to be intoxicated at the time of the wreck and was released by authorities. An investigation into the wreck is still underway.
