Authorities say 30-year-old Joe Nathan Richardson was driving a silver Dodge Ram pickup truck when he ran a red light at Richmond Avenue’s intersection with the West Sam Houston Parkway. He then hit a gray Toyota 4-runner which then crashed into a nearby light pole.
Both Richardson and the driver of the Toyota, an unidentified 28-year-old man, were transported to a nearby hospital after the incident. Richardson suffered minor injuries while the driver of the Toyota was declared deceased by hospital staff.
Richardson was intoxicated at the time of the crash and has since been charged with intoxication manslaughter. He was also charged with felon in possession of a weapon.
