UPDATE: Motorcyclist dies after wreck with car in Houston’s Mid-West

HOUSTON, TX — A 48-year-old man died Monday after his motorcycle collided with another vehicle near the Westpark Tollway in Houston’s Mid-West area, reports Houston Police Department.
HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division said the fatal accident occurred in the 3800 block of South Gessner Road shortly before 11:00 a.m.
An early investigation indicates a gold Lexus ES 300 was traveling northbound when it took a ramp onto the westbound Westpark Tollway. A witness told authorities a black Yamaha motorcycle entered the intersection, where it struck the Lexus.
The rider suffered critical injuries and was rushed to Ben Taub General Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The driver of the Lexus, who remained at the scene, was released after being questioned by officers. Authorities said they do not believe impairment factored into the fatal event.
An investigation remains in progress, and no charges have been filed at this time.
