HOUSTON, TX – A man has been charged in the drunk driving crash that killed one man on Saturday morning, the Houston Police Department reports.
Authorities say 26-year-old Ivan DeJesus Gil was driving while intoxicated on the Gulf Freeway when he crashed into a concrete barrier on the freeway’s connector ramp to the South Freeway. The suspect’s Dodge Charger then fell off the freeway and hit a tree near 1900 Pierce Street.
An unidentified 26-year-old passenger in the car did not survive the accident. Gil was taken to the hospital with critical injuries and was determined to be intoxicated. He now faces a charge of intoxication manslaughter.
