UPDATE: HPD issues press release on fatal pedestrian accident near Latham Street

HOUSTON, TX – The Houston Police Department issued a press release on the fatal pedestrian accident that took place on Latham Street on Wednesday night.
According to the press release, a 58-year-old man was attempting to cross the street when he was struck by a red Chevrolet Corvette. The victim was reportedly using a crosswalk but was walking against the light.
The victim was declared dead at the scene of the crash. The driver, a 19-year-old man, stopped and cooperated with authorities. He was determined not to be intoxicated at the time of the crash and was released.
The incident remains under investigation.
