UPDATE: DUI suspect charged after fatal wreck on IH-610 in NE Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A 37-year-old man has been charged in connection to a crash Wednesday that killed a passenger on North Loop East Freeway in northeast Houston, reports Houston Police Department.
The fatal accident occurred in the 8900 block of the westbound freeway, near North McCarty Street, at around 1:45 a.m.
A preliminary investigation by HPD Vehicular Crimes Division indicates the suspect was behind the wheel of a gray Mercedes Benz GL going westbound when he veered out of his lane and hit the median. The contact caused the vehicle to flip, ejecting a 36-year-old male passenger.
Responding medics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
Authorities said the suspect was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries. He was suspected of intoxication and was later jailed and charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 209th State District Court.
