UPDATE: Driver arrested for role in fatal-hit-and-run on Westheimer Road

HOUSTON, TX – According to the Houston Police Department, a driver was arrested for his role in a fatal hit-and-run that took place on Westheimer Road on Thursday, July 29.
A 44-year-old man was walking near 7900 Westheimer Road, in a crosswalk, when he was hit by a gray Honda Accord driven by Walter Dewayne Petties. Pettis then pulled over and fled from the scene on foot after calling 9-1-1.
He reportedly returned to the scene two hours after the crash. He has since been arrested and charged with failure to stop and render aid.
