Tyler – Katrena Smith Died in Two-Vehicle Accident on Hwy 190

The Department of Public Safety has released the name of the driver who died in a collision with another car on Highway 190, just east of Woodville, last Thursday.
The fatality was identified as 48-year-old Katrena Kay Smith. She was a resident of Onalaska.
Smith was a driver of a 2004 Kia passenger vehicle was seen along Hwy 190 near Farm to Market Road 1746. At around 4:00 p.m., for reasons that had not been determined yet, she drove into the path of a 2013 Chevrolet pickup truck that was traveling eastbound on US 190, resulting in a collision. The impact killed Smith instantly. Her passenger was taken to the hospital and refused treatment. He was not immediately identified by responding officers.
Police did not confirm which driver had the right of way at the time of the crash.
An investigation is underway.
