Tyler- Fiery crash on Amherst Street killed one

A motorcyclist died following a fatal accident on Amherst Street near South Broadway Avenue, Wednesday night.
Just before midnight, Tyler police officers responded to the scene following a call reporting a crash. According to the report, a motorcycle, for yet unknown reasons, collided with a Toyota pickup truck at 3415 South Broadway, near Leslie’s Pools. The pickup truck was already engulfed in flames when authorities arrived.
The force of impact killed the rider instantly. He was identified as Michael Anthony Gonzalez from Tyler. While the driver of the pickup truck sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital where he was treated and released. His identification was not immediately made available.
All lanes on Broadway were temporarily closed for clearing.
Initial investigation shows that the motorcycle was reportedly slowing for the red light when a pickup truck struck him from behind.
No charges have been made as the investigation continues.
