FORT BEND COUNTY, TX — Two teenage girls were injured Monday when a large tree collapsed over a vehicle in a Sugar Land residential neighborhood, reports Click2Houston.
The incident occurred moments after a teen driver picked up her friend and pulled out from a private driveway.
A nearby tree, believed to have been rotten and weakened by a termite infestation, fell over the teen’s Mercedes Benz as she began driving away from the home.
The two occupants were trapped in the wrecked vehicle for almost half an hour before fire and EMS crews arrived to assist them through the rear of the car.
Both victims suffered minor injuries, though it was not immediately clear if they were taken to a hospital.
No further information has been released on the exact time and location of the accident, which left the Mercedes Benz totaled.
