Two killed in hit-and-run collision near SW Houston’s Chinatown

HOUSTON, TX — An adult and a child died Friday night after their vehicle was struck by a speeding pickup truck in southwest Houston’s Chinatown area, according to ABC13.
The crash happened in the 7100 block of South Gessner Road, near the Neff Street intersection, at around 8:40 p.m.
Authorities said the driver of a Camry appeared to have tried crossing the street, believing they had enough time, when the pickup truck collided with their vehicle.
The driver of the Camry and a juvenile passenger were ejected in the crash and died from their injuries at the scene.
Witnesses said the driver of the pickup looked disoriented as he exited his vehicle and fled on foot.
Houston police are actively searching for the suspect driver and suspect impairment played a role in the fatal crash.
