Two dead after wrong-way driver crashes into semi on U.S. 59

HOUSTON, TX – A man was driving northbound in the southbound lanes of U.S. 59 when he hit a semi head-on Sunday morning.

According to My San Antonio, the crash occurred when a Chrysler was traveling the wrong direction on U.S. 59 near W. Bellfort Avenue and hit a southbound semi head-on around 5:20 a.m. The impact caused both vehicles to catch fire. Police report part of the semi landed on Frontage Road below the interstate.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the crash scene. Neither of the men has been identified at this time.
