HOUSTON, TX — Two people died early Friday morning after a two-vehicle collision off U.S. Highway 290 in Houston’s Fairbanks/Northwest Crossing area, according to ABC13 Houston.
Houston police said the fatal crash happened near the Hollister Street intersection.
An early investigation indicates a man was driving a Silverado pickup truck at a high rate of speed when he ran past a red light and collided with a sedan, whose driver had the right of way.
A witness told authorities the victim car flipped and rolled multiple times before coming to a rest.
The male driver of the sedan was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A female passenger in the pickup truck, believed to be in her early 20s, was rushed to a local hospital where she later died.
The driver of the pickup was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities said he was not suspected of impairment.
Authorities said the case will be handled by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, and charges are expected to be filed.
