Travis County – Deputy Officer Killed in FM 2244 Collision Identified

A deputy officer was pronounced deceased following a car collision on Farm to Market Road 2244, Wednesday morning.

Initial investigation shows that the incident happened at around 6:00 a.m. along the 7700 block of FM 2244. A Ford Escape was seen traveling along the roadway when a westbound Inifini drifted into its path, resulting a crash. The driver of the Ford was killed upon impact. He was identified as Senior Deputy Christopher Korzilius, 32. He joined sheriff’s office in June 2016 and spent most of his time working night shift patrol in eastern Travis County.

The driver of the Infiniti was injured and was taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center where he was listed in an unknown condition. His identification has not yet been released.

Austin police are still determining the circumstances leading up to the crash.
