Tow truck driver killed by hit-and-run driver on US-290 in NW Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A 33-year-old man died Saturday morning after being hit by a car while assisting a stranded driver on U.S. Highway 290 in northwest Houston, reports Click2Houston.
The fatal incident took place near Pinemont Drive at approximately 2:00 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates the victim, who worked as an independent AAA tow truck operator, was standing on the side of the road and securing a disabled vehicle onto his tow truck when he was struck and killed.
Authorities said the suspect driver fled the scene moments after.
As of this writing, no identifying details or further information have been released.
An investigation remains ongoing.
