Toddler critically injured in crash on Highway 290

HOUSTON, TX – A toddler was critically injured in a crash on Highway 290 on Sunday night, according to KHOU 11.
According to authorities, a mattress fell onto the eastbound lanes of Highway 290 near 34th Street around 8:30 p.m. One vehicle stopped to avoid the mattress and was hit by another vehicle. Both drivers were not hurt, but the initial collision led to another crash.
Four children were inside the final vehicle, including a 6-year-old boy who is now reported to be in critical condition. The other three children were not seriously hurt.
A car seat was not found in the family’s vehicle. The incident remains under investigation.
