Tarrant County – Erek Alcantar Died in Mansfield Highway Crash

Texas Department of Public Safety officials have named the victim who died in a car accident on Mansfield Highway on December 18th.
The fatality was identified as 28-year-old Erek Alcantar.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred at the 5200 Mansfield Hwy near Interstate 20 in Tarrant County. Erek Alcantar was seen walking in the middle of the roadway when he was struck by a passing vehicle. The impact of the collision seriously injured Alcantar. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, 55-year-old Rodney Eugene Bourland, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. He told the police that he was unable to avoid the pedestrian because of the rays of the sun that have blinded him.
It was not confirmed if Bourland was injured from the crash.
