Sugar Land — Multi-Vehicular Crash Causes Big Rig to Fly Off I-69

At around 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2019, a tractor-trailer drove off the overpass at University Boulevard and landed on a car on the feeder below after an accident that occurred between several vehicles on interstate 69.
According to witnesses, an SUV hit the big rig as they both traveled south on I-69, which then causes the big rig to fly off the interstate and onto a car on the University Boulevard feeder road.
A woman inside the smashed car was able to get out of the damaged vehicle and was then brought to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
There were no other injuries reported.
It is great to hear that no one died in this accident, but unfortunately, there are other victims who aren’t as lucky. Car accidents are alarmingly common in this day and age. In fact, the National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA) says car accidents happen almost every minute of every day, and for every 16 minutes, a car accident occurs that results in death. That can be estimated to be roughly about 6 million car accidents every year and 90 people dying in car accidents every day in the U.S. alone.
Studies have shown that the three most common causes of car accidents are DUI (driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs), speeding, and driving while distracted. There are other causes as well, such as operator error (accelerated too much or were speeding or were in the wrong gear), pedal error (stepping on the gas pedal instead of the brake), age, and even the weather (i.e. the rain making the road slippery, etc.).
If you are a victim of this kind of accident, or you know someone who is, or you lost a loved one because of this, then don’t lose hope. The police will always be there for you, but more than that, car accident lawyers/personal injury lawyers are also willing to help you in protecting your rights and in getting you the justice that you deserve.
