Stonewall County – Aspermont Man Killed in Highway 83 Crash ID’d

The Texas Department of Public Safety has released the name of the elderly man who died in a fatal vehicle accident on Highway 83 last Thursday.
The fatality was identified as Jimmy Gus Anderson, 79. He was a resident of Aspermont.
According to police reports, Anderson had been driving a cattle truck along Hwy 83 near County Road 107 when, for reasons that had not been determined yet, he drove into the path of an 18-wheeler truck. The impact sent both vehicles outside the roadway with Anderson’s truck catching fire.
Anderson was pronounced deceased at the scene. Authorities did not release information about the condition of the driver of the 18-wheeler truck.
Local authorities have yet to determine what caused Anderson to drift into the path of the truck. An investigation is underway.
