HOUSTON, TX – An auto-pedestrian accident in southeast Houston on the night of April 18 left two dead KRTK reports.
Police report the driver who hit the two pedestrians was speeding but was not driving under the influence.
The driver lost control near Cullen Boulevard and crashed into a utility pole, hitting two people at approximately 11:30 p.m. While the driver did not sustain any life-threatening injuries, the two individuals he hit could not be saved. They have been identified as Jason Sanders and Adam Caesar.
The speed limit on Cullen Boulevard is 35mph, but investigators believe the driver far exceeded that limit.
According to the District Attorney’s office, prosecutors are seeing an increasing number of speeding drivers involved in deadly crashes.
While the driver has not been charged at this time, he could ultimately face manslaughter or criminally negligent homicide.
