Sonora – Two Killed in Major Truck Collision on Interstate 10

A deadly truck accident on Interstate 10 caused the death of two people, Tuesday evening.
At around 1:30 a.m. local troopers responded to the westbound lane of I-10, just six miles west of Sonora, to assist in a traffic accident. According to the report, a 2009 Volvo truck tractor that was towing a semi-trailer had been traveling awest when it collided with a 1997 Peterbilt, also towing a semi-trailer. The force of the impact was so great that both trucks burst into flames, killing both drivers instantly.
Authorities later identified the victims as 49-years-old Houston man and 72-years-old Sugarland man.
No one else was injured.
The Sonora Police Department was requested at the scene to determine the cause of the crash. Anyone who has information relevant to the case should get in contact with SPD.
The crash remains under investigation.
