At least three people died as a result of a two-car accident on Toll 49, Wednesday afternoon, last May 8, according to a local news source.
At around 12:30 p.m., Texas Department of Public Safety officials responded to a collision on Toll 49. A preliminary investigation shows that a sports utility vehicle was traveling along the southbound lane of the highway when, for yet unknown reasons, it drifted onto the opposing lanes near County Road 46 where it collided with a 2013 Freightliner van. The impact of the collision was so great that it caused both vehicles to catch fire.
The SUV driver, identified only as a 62-year-old Tyler woman, and her passenger, 34-year-old Kei Lei Harding, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Freightliner died at the scene too.
The crash remains under investigation.
