Smith County – One Dead in Fatal Hwy 69 Crash

At least one person died following a deadly car accident on Highway 69 in Smith County.

According to initial reports, the incident took place on Hwy 69 near County Road 1215 just before 1:00 p.m. Police said a commercial van was seen traveling along the roadway when, for reasons that had not yet been determined, it crashed into a passing passenger van. The impact of the crash left one person with serious injuries. He was pronounced deceased by emergency crews who responded to the scene.

His identification was withheld until his next of kin has been notified.

No other injuries were reported.

The Smith County Police Department was requested at the scene to determine the circumstances leading up to the accident. Anyone who has information about the case is encouraged to get in contact with local authorities.

An investigation is underway.
