Smith County – Lonesha McCovey and Callie Birdsong Hospitalized in Multi-Vehicle Accident on State Highway 64

Smith Couth law enforcement officials have identified the victims injured in an auto crash on State Highway 64, last Wednesday.
The casualties were identified as Lonesha McCovey, 26, of Nacogdoches, and Callie Birdsong, 25, of Arp.
A 2016 Ford Fusion was traveling along the westbound lane of SH 64 when it collided with an eastbound Kia passenger driven by Lonesha McCovey. The Ford that struck another eastbound vehicle driven by Callie Birdsong.
Birdsong and McCovey also sustained injuries. They were both rushed to Christus Trinity Mother Francis Hospital where they were listed in serious condition.
The driver of the Ford, identified as 23-year-old Ryan Curbo from Henderson, fled the scene but was later arrested. He was transported to UT-Health in Tyler with non-life threatening injuries. Once released, he was booked into the Smith County jail on two charges of intoxication assault with a vehicle – serious bodily injury as well as fleeing an accident involving serious bodily injury.
